WHAT DOES THE BIBLE SAY ABOUT WORKING?

We are commanded to work, and there is no reason for any healthy person not to work. Yes we all goes through some rough times during our life, but if you keep looking and trust in the Lord, you will find work. There is always something one can do, even if it means volunteering time to help others while waiting for something to come along.

It is in this way we show our faith and obedience, as well as, an example to others of what one can achieve by working.  God is a provider, not only for his people, but for all that attempt to provide for themselves.

Exodus 20:8 " Six days you will labor, and do all your work."

Proverbs 6:9-11 " How long will you sleep you loafer? When will you rise from your sleep? ... So will your poverty come as one that travels,"

Proverbs 13:4 " The soul of the loafer desires, and has nothing, but the soul of the industrious will be full."

Proverbs 18:9 " He that is slack in his work is a brother to him that is a great waster."

Proverbs 21:25 " The hunger of the lazy kills him, for his hands refuse to work."

Proverbs 26:14 " As a door turns upon its hinges, so does the lazy upon his bed."

1 Thessalonians 4:11-12 " ... to work with your own hands as we command you, that you may walk honestly toward them that are without, and that you may lack of nothing."

2 Thessalonians 3:10-12 " For this is a command, if there are any among you that do not want to work, then do not feed him."

1 Timothy 5:8 " If there are any that do not provide for themselves, especially his own family, he does deny the faith, and he is worse than an unbeliever."

Idle hands can only breed mischief and damnation.
