Deuteronomy 13:1-4 "If there arise among you a prophet, or a
dreamer of dreams, and giveth thee a sign or a wonder, And the sign or the
wonder come to pass, whereof he spake unto thee, saying, Let us go after
other gods, which thou hast not known, and let us serve them; Thou shalt
not hearken unto the words of that prophet, or that dreamer of dreams: for
the LORD your God proveth you, to know whether ye love the LORD your God
with all your heart and with all your soul. Ye shall walk after the
LORD your God, and fear him, and keep his commandments, and obey his
voice, and ye shall serve him, and cleave unto him."
Isaiah 29:6-15 "Thou shalt be visited of the LORD of hosts
with thunder, and with earthquake, and great noise, with storm and
tempest, and the flame of devouring fire. And the multitude of all the
nations that fight against Ariel, even all that fight against her and her
munition, and that distress her, shall be as a dream of a night vision. It
shall even be as when an hungry man dreameth, and, behold, he eateth; but
he awaketh, and his soul is empty: or as when a thirsty man dreameth, and,
behold, he drinketh; but he awaketh, and, behold, he is faint, and his
soul hath appetite: so shall the multitude of all the nations be, that
fight against mount Zion. Stay yourselves, and wonder; cry ye out, and
cry: they are drunken, but not with wine; they stagger, but not with
strong drink. For the LORD hath poured out upon you the spirit of deep
sleep, and hath closed your eyes: the prophets and your rulers, the seers
hath he covered. And the vision of all is become unto you as the words of
a book that is sealed, which men deliver to one that is learned, saying,
Read this, I pray thee: and he saith, I cannot; for it is sealed: And the
book is delivered to him that is not learned, saying, Read this, I pray
thee: and he saith, I am not learned. Wherefore the Lord said, Forasmuch
as this people draw near me with their mouth, and with their lips do
honour me, but have removed their heart far from me, and their fear
toward me is taught by the precept of men: Therefore, behold, I will
proceed to do a marvellous work among this people, even a marvellous work
and a wonder: for the wisdom of their wise men shall perish, and the
understanding of their prudent men shall be hid. Woe unto them that seek
deep to hide their counsel from the LORD, and their works are in the dark,
and they say, Who seeth us? and who knoweth us?"
Jeremiah 5:31 "The prophets prophesy falsely, and the
priests bear rule by their means; and my people love to have it so:
and what will ye do in the end thereof?"
Mark 7:6-9 "He answered and said unto them, Well hath Esaias
prophesied of you hypocrites, as it is written, This people honoureth me
with their lips, but their heart is far from me. Howbeit in vain do they
worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men. For laying
aside the commandment of God, ye hold the tradition of men, as the washing
of pots and cups: and many other such like things ye do. And he said unto
them, Full well ye reject the commandment of God, that ye may keep your
own tradition."
2 Corinthians 11:3-15 "But I fear, lest by any means, as the
serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be
corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ. For if he that cometh
preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive
another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye
have not accepted, ye might well bear with him... For such are false apostles, deceitful
workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. And no
marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. Therefore
it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers
of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works."
Ephesians 5:6 "Let no man deceive you with vain words: for
because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of
disobedience."
1 Timothy 1:4 "Neither give heed to fables and endless
genealogies, which minister questions, rather than godly edifying which is
in faith: so do."
1 Timothy 4:7 "But refuse profane and old wives' fables, and
exercise thyself rather unto godliness."
1 Timothy 6:2-5 "And they that have believing masters, let
them not despise them, because they are brethren; but rather do them
service, because they are faithful and beloved, partakers of the benefit.
These things teach and exhort. If any man teach otherwise, and consent not
to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the
doctrine which is according to godliness; He is proud, knowing nothing,
but doting about questions and strifes of words, whereof cometh envy,
strife, railings, evil surmisings, Perverse disputings of men of corrupt
minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: from
such withdraw thyself."
2 Timothy 2:14-16 "Of these things put them in remembrance,
charging them before the Lord that they strive not about words to no
profit, but to the subverting of the hearers. Study to shew thyself
approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly
dividing the word of truth. But shun profane and vain babblings: for they
will increase unto more ungodliness."
2 Timothy 2:23-26 "But foolish and unlearned questions avoid,
knowing that they do gender strifes. And the servant of the Lord must not
strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient, In meekness
instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give
them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth; And that they may
recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by
him at his will."
2 Timothy 4:2-5 "Preach the word; be instant in season, out of
season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine. For
the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after
their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching
ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be
turned unto fables. But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do
the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry."
Titus 1:14-16 "Not giving heed to Jewish fables, and
commandments of men, that turn from the truth. Unto the pure all things
are pure: but unto them that are defiled and unbelieving is nothing pure;
but even their mind and conscience is defiled. They profess that they know
God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and
unto every good work reprobate."
2 Peter 2:1-2 "But there were false prophets also among the
people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall
bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and
bring upon themselves swift destruction. And many shall follow their
pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken
of."
Jude 1:4 "For there are certain men crept in unawares, who
were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the
grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and
our Lord Jesus Christ."
