1 Peter 3:4-7 "But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in
that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet
spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price. For after this manner
in the old time the holy women also, who trusted in God, adorned
themselves, being in subjection unto their own husbands: Even as Sara
obeyed Abraham, calling him lord: whose daughters ye are, as long as ye do
well, and are not afraid with any amazement. Likewise, ye husbands, dwell
with them according to knowledge, giving honor unto the wife, as unto the
weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life; that your
prayers be not hindered."
Hebrews 13:4 "Marriage is honorable in all, and the bed
undefiled: but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge."
1 Corinthians 7:1-16 "Now concerning the things whereof ye
wrote unto me: It is good for a man not to touch a woman. Nevertheless, to
avoid fornication, let every man have his own wife, and let every woman
have her own husband. Let the husband render unto the wife due
benevolence: and likewise also the wife unto the husband. The wife hath
not power of her own body, but the husband: and likewise also the husband
hath not power of his own body, but the wife. Defraud ye not one the
other, except it be with consent for a time, that ye may give yourselves
to fasting and prayer; and come together again, that Satan tempt you not
for your incontinency. But I speak this by permission, and not of
commandment. For I would that all men were even as I myself. But every man
hath his proper gift of God, one after this manner, and another after
that. I say therefore to the unmarried and widows, It is good for them if
they abide even as I. But if they cannot contain, let them marry: for it
is better to marry than to burn. And unto the married I command, yet not
I, but the Lord, Let not the wife depart from her husband: But and if she
depart, let her remain unmarried, or be reconciled to her husband: and let
not the husband put away his wife. But to the rest speak I, not the Lord:
If any brother hath a wife that believeth not, and she be pleased to dwell
with him, let him not put her away. And the woman which hath an husband
that believeth not, and if he be pleased to dwell with her, let her not
leave him. For the unbelieving husband is sanctified by the wife, and the
unbelieving wife is sanctified by the husband: else were your children
unclean; but now are they holy. But if the unbelieving depart, let him
depart. A brother or a sister is not under bondage in such cases: but God
hath called us to peace. For what knows thou, O wife, whether thou shall
save thy husband? or how knows thou, O man, whether thou shall save thy
wife? "
2 Corinthians 6:14-16 "Be ye not unequally yoked together with
unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness?
and what communion hath light with darkness? And what concord hath Christ
with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel? And what
agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the
living God;"
Ephesians 5:22-33 "Wives, submit yourselves unto your own
husbands, as unto the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife, even
as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the savior of the body.
Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to
their own husbands in every thing. Husbands, love your wives, even as
Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; That he might
sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, That he
might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or
wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without
blemish. So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that
loves his wife loves himself. For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but
nourishes and cherishes it, even as the Lord the church: For we are
members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones. For this cause shall
a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and
they two shall be one flesh. This is a great mystery: but I speak
concerning Christ and the church. Nevertheless let every one of you in
particular so love his wife even as himself; and the wife see that she
reverence her husband."
Tobit 4:12-13 "Beware of all whoredom, my son, and chiefly
take a wife of the seed of thy fathers, and take not a strange woman to
wife, which is not of thy father’s tribe: for we are the children of the
prophets, Noe, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob: remember, my son, that our
fathers from the beginning, even that they all married wives of their own
kindred, and were blessed in their children, and their seed shall inherit
the land. Now therefore, my son, love thy brethren, and despise not in thy
heart thy brethren, the sons and daughters of thy people, in not taking a
wife of them: for in pride is destruction and much trouble, and in
lewdness is decay and great want: for lewdness is the mother of
famine."
